FAQ

  • What can I expect in therapy?

I always preface the first session as a chance for us to get to know each other. I will ask a lot of background questions and I encourage you to come with questions of your own! I want to make sure we are a good fit before moving forward.

I believe my role as a therapist is to provide support and resources in a way that works for you. Maybe you need to vent, want homework assignments, coping tools, more direction vs a listening ear, etc. You are paying for a service and I want you to leave our sessions feeling like you were heard.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept the following major CO insurance providers: Aetna, Oscar Health, Optum and United Healthcare. I do require you to make an account with my billing company in order to use your insurance. Please contact me regarding insurance and I will be happy to answer additional questions.

  • How much does a session cost?

I charge $135/ 55 minute session, $185/ 90 minute session for private pay individuals.

I accept all major credit cards including HSA/ FSA cards. I always suggest clients speak with their provider prior to using for session payments.

  • Do you offer a sliding scale?

I never want cost to prohibit you from seeking the mental health care you need. I do offer a limited number of sliding scale clients at a time. Please contact me if you wish to discuss further.

  • When should I cancel if I am unable to attend?

All appointments must be cancelled 24 hours in advance with the exception for emergencies. If an appointment is missed without 24 hour notification, I charge the full hourly rate.

  • What is your therapeutic approach or theory?

I believe it is more important to adapt to the concerns and needs of my client than following one single approach. I am grounded in person centered care, first and foremost. I also regularly pull from ACT, CBT, DBT, positive psychology, solution focused therapy and trauma informed care.

  • Is what we talk about in session private?

Absolutely, therapists are bound by law to protect your privacy. However, there are some exceptions for the safety of yourself and others. If for any reason, I need to break confidentiality, we will speak about it beforehand.

  • How will I know if telehealth is right for me?

We can address this concern in a 15 minute consultation or during our first session together. We have all had to adjust in the year(S!) of this pandemic and have found that telehealth is a valuable and convenient resource for many. However, it might not be a good fit if you are experiencing crises or need a higher level of care.

  • Can my baby or child attend session with me?

Absolutely! I have been there, mama. I know my little one attended a handful of sessions with me when I was postpartum. I understand that sometimes this is the only way you can find time to commit for yourself. We can discuss if having baby present is more of a hinderance/ distraction and plan from there. I assure you, having baby present is more distracting for you than me.
